The European Medicines Agency EMA gives the green light for the use of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine.
The EMA's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) recommended conditional approval of the vaccine from the age of 18 on Friday.
The final decision now has to be made by the European Commission.
This is considered a formality.
It would be the third Covid-19 vaccine approved in the European Union after the funds from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna.
The EMA did not name an upper age limit.
The agency pointed out, however, that there is not enough data on the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca preparation in older people to assess how effective it is in them.

The UK was the first country in the world to approve AstraZeneca's vaccine.
The vaccine has since received emergency approval in a number of other countries, including India, Argentina, Mexico and Morocco.
The European Commission has signed a purchase agreement for up to 400 million doses of the vaccine.
However, a dispute has broken out between the EU and AstraZeneca over delivery problems.
