The new agreement, which has been negotiated between the red-green-pink parties (MP, V, Fi), the Social Democrats, the Democrats and the Alliance, entails a major reorganization of the City of Gothenburg's committees and administrations within urban planning.

The politicians themselves write that they think that the City of Gothenburg's organization for urban planning has worked poorly and caused frustration for many years.

Major shortcomings in the financial calculations for large projects, some have been stopped completely.

Not long ago, the city's city architect, Björn Siesjö, himself went out and criticized the city, which SVT Nyheter Väst reported on.

- Today's organization, with many administrations where no one clearly holds the baton, has led to cost increases and delays of countless construction projects.

Therefore, it is very positive that we have now broadly agreed on a way forward, says Jonas Attenius (S), municipal councilor, in a press release.

Several committees cease

The reorganization means, among other things, that the building committee, the real estate committee, the local committee, the park and nature committee and the traffic committee cease to exist.

The city has already decided that the company Älvstranden Utveckling will be wound up.

- Now we can finally get a sharper community planning without downspouts and better management of the common.

And stop the waste of Gothenburgers' money through reduced bureaucracy, duplication of work and unnecessary superstructure, says Martin Wannholt (D), municipal councilor.

- In order to be able to achieve the high goals that the Alliance has set for housing construction, the municipality's organization needs to be adapted.

I am glad that we can now, in broad consensus, take a big step forward to get a better urban development in Gothenburg, says Axel Josefson (M), chairman of the municipal board.
