The mobile phone application (App) pops up advertisements at any time, and users click "close" to jump directly to the advertisement page; personalized advertisements are flooded, and consumers need to go through a dozen steps to temporarily close them; false advertisements are unscrupulous, and consumers are overwhelmed Its annoyance... The "App Advertising Consumer Rights Protection Evaluation Report (2020)" released by the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Commission recently pointed out that 58% of apps contain advertisements, and 69.7% of them do not have a "close button."

Today, when users and mobile phones go hand in hand, "advertising that can't be turned off" in mobile applications has become a major drawback, which not only directly violates consumer rights, but also hinders the healthy development of the Internet economy.

App advertising is closely related to every mobile phone user, and some seemingly inconspicuous small problems may cause big troubles.

The accurate push of advertisements is pervasive, which may cause the risk of personal information leakage.

The lack of supervision of false advertisements in apps can also easily induce consumers to "spend the wrong money"-a wide range of online loans, skin care products that are wiped out, thermal underwear that gathers heat in 3 seconds... Many platforms just ignore the release Supervision, the ultimate consequences are all borne by consumers.

Why are there so many problems with App advertising?

This is related to the profit model of Internet companies.

"Selling ads" is an important way for Internet companies to "monetize traffic."

In the digital economy era, data has become an important resource for Internet companies to compete for. Whoever has more and more detailed user data is likely to gain more advantages in market competition.

Internet companies can build detailed user portraits based on user chat content, usage habits and other data to achieve precision marketing.

There are also leading companies moving towards "data monopoly" and gaining market advantages by relying on exclusive massive data, which has brought about many market competition order and market resource allocation problems.

It is reported that there are over 3.5 million apps that can be monitored in the Chinese market, and the number is still increasing.

In order to maintain the healthy development of the Internet economy, it is imperative to remove the Internet "psoriasis".

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has formulated and released 10 standards in the "App User Rights Protection Evaluation Standards" and 8 series of standards in the "Minimum Necessary Evaluation Standards for App Collection and Use of Personal Information" to regulate the use of App personal information.

The Cyberspace Administration of China also issued the "Scope of Personal Information Required for Common Types of Mobile Internet Applications (Apps) (Draft for Solicitation of Comments)" to promote special rectification of mobile application information content chaos, and the first batch of 105 mobile applications that violated laws and regulations were cleaned up.

The regulatory authorities have taken action to create hard-core standards for rectifying App chaos and effectively protect the rights and interests of users.

The prosperity of the Internet economy should not be at the expense of consumer interests.

It is hoped that under the increasingly sophisticated policy supervision and technological supervision, the operation of Internet companies will be more standardized, so as to promote the sound development of China's Internet economy.
