Paris (AP) - The French actor and screenwriter Jean-Pierre Bacri is dead. The 69-year-old died on Monday, as his agency confirmed to the German Press Agency in Paris.
Bacri was one of the most famous comedians in France and played in films such as “Life is a festival”, “Between all chairs” or “Look at me!”, For which he co-wrote the script.
He has received the French César film award several times for his work.
According to media reports, Bacri had cancer.
Born in 1951 in what is now Bou Ismaïl in Algeria, he emigrated with his family to Cannes in the early 1960s during the Algerian war.
Eventually he moved to Paris, where he took lessons at the famous Cours Simon drama school.
Bacri began to write the first scripts for plays at that time.
In 1979 he starred in the drama "Weapon of the Devil" alongside Alain Delon.
Bacri worked repeatedly with the actress and director Agnès Jaoui.
Most recently, Bacri starred in the film “Family Photo” alongside Vanessa Paradis.
