  The German disease control department announced on the 24th that the number of new confirmed cases was 32,195.

  The Baden-Württemberg State Ministry of Health issued a statement on the 24th, stating that the state confirmed the first case of infection with a variant strain of the new crown virus "B.1.1.7" in Germany that day.

According to reports, the case is a woman who arrived in Baden-Württemberg from the UK on the 20th of this month and was diagnosed with the above-mentioned strain on the 24th.

  A spokesperson for the state's Ministry of Health introduced the diagnosis of the case on the same day: The woman came to Germany to visit relatives. She arrived in Frankfurt by plane from London on the 20th and entered Germany from Frankfurt.

The woman had already tested positive during a rapid test at Frankfurt Airport.

On the 21st, the woman received a nucleic acid test, and the result was still positive; on the same day, she began to show mild symptoms.

Three close contacts of the confirmed case have been quarantined.

  The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health then sent the virus test samples of the case to the National New Coronavirus Analysis Laboratory at the Charité Medical School in Berlin for further genetic sequencing of the virus.

On the 24th, the laboratory officially confirmed that the case was infected with the mutant strain "B.1.1.7".

  A spokesperson for the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health said that the three close contacts have not shown symptoms and their test samples are being sent for inspection.

The health department of Freudenstadt where the case is located is in close communication with state and municipal governments.
