Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Weather experts warn of a thaw with flooding in Baden-Württemberg.

According to the flood forecast center on Thursday, there will be a lot of rain and warm temperatures, and thus the snow cover will partially melt in the high altitudes and completely in the medium altitudes.

Rapid increases in water levels are the result.

Floods are to be expected especially on rivers in the Black Forest, the Swabian Alb and in the Allgäu, but significant floods are also expected in the Danube and Neckar.

The water level of 7.5 meters at the Maxau / Rhine gauge, which is relevant for the cessation of shipping in the Rhine section near Karlsruhe, is expected to be exceeded in the night from Friday to Saturday.

The German Weather Service warned of a thaw for the southern half of the country for the period from Thursday to Sunday.

For the south-west of the country, the meteorologists also warned of gale-force gusts.
