A man was indicted for murder as part of the judicial investigation opened after the death of Théo, a teenager found dead in a disused industrial premises in Lens (Pas-de-Calais) in 2018, a case that had sparked a strong emotion, announced Friday the parquet of Béthune.
On December 15, two people were taken into police custody by investigators from the interregional direction of the judicial police as part of this investigation carried out for kidnapping and murder of a minor under the age of 15 and one of them was then presented to a judge and imprisoned for murder, said the public prosecutor in Béthune, Thierry Dran, in a press release.
Passed away in May 2018
"The person has denied the facts despite the elements collected against him by the investigators," adds Thierry Dran.
Théo, a 14-year-old boy who has been missing since May 2018, was found dead in November of the same year in a disused industrial premises in Lens.
A group of young people who were visiting the difficult-to-access site of an old disused industrial bakery, a few dozen meters from Theo's home, had discovered his body.
The teenager had disappeared one night in May, after a night out at a nightclub.
This affair had aroused strong emotion in the mining area.
A tribute was paid to him at the Bollaert stadium during a RC Lens match.
