A German startup intends to use drones to deliver vaccines

A startup German company intends to use drones to deliver the Coronavirus vaccine to remote areas.

"Even before the crisis, we supplied 19 villages in the island state of Vanuatu, the South Pacific, with medicines as part of a successful pilot project," said Wingcopter CEO Tom Bloomer.

"We brought in experts from the car production sector, and we are currently preparing, on the basis of their technical expertise, a production chain. In the future, we intend to build tens of thousands of drones there," Blumer added.

The company announced today that it has raised another 18 million euros of investment capital from the "Explorer Capital" in California and the German "Future Regio Growth".

Wingcopter intends to use the new capital to develop a new, more capable UAV.

The production of the drones will be carried out at a former electric bike factory in the German city of Wittenberg.
