Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The prosecution in Brandenburg is expecting numerous cases of hate crime on the Internet.
"We are waiting for the hat-speech law at the federal level, which should facilitate the fight against extremism and hatred on the Internet," said Attorney General Andreas Behm to the "Tagesspiegel" (Tuesday).
Then there will be more advertisements from the providers.
"In Brandenburg, the cases are to be distributed among all four public prosecutor's offices, since we expect 6000 proceedings a year," explained Behm.
"The public prosecutor in Cottbus, responsible for cybercrime, cannot do that alone."
In addition, there is a commissioner for hate crime on the Internet at the attorney general, said Behm.
In the meantime, right-wing extremists such as left-wing extremists also increasingly used social media.
After long discussions, the Union and the SPD want to pass the amended law to combat right-wing extremism and hate crime on the Internet shortly.
It had already been passed by the Bundestag and Bundesrat, but was stopped by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier because of the requirements of the Federal Constitutional Court.
