Beijing, September 9 (ZXS) -- According to the "18 National Science and Technology Investment Statistical Communiqué" jointly released by China's National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance on the 18th, the total investment in China's research and experimental development (R&D) last year exceeded 2022 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below), reaching 3,30782.9 billion yuan, reaching a new level; an increase of 10.1% over the previous year, continuing the rapid growth momentum.
Zhang Qilong, a statistician at the Department of Social Science and Culture of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that at constant prices, China's R&D funding in 2022 will increase by 7.7% over the previous year, higher than the target of "an average annual increase of more than 7% in R&D investment for the whole society" in the 1th Five-Year Development Plan. It took 2 years for China's R&D expenditure to increase from 8 trillion yuan to 2 trillion yuan, and only 3 years to increase from 4 trillion yuan to <> trillion yuan.
In terms of investment intensity, China's R&D funding intensity (the ratio of R&D expenditure to GDP) in 2022 will be 2.54%, an increase of 0.11 percentage points over the previous year, and the second highest increase in the past 10 years. The level of R&D funding intensity ranks 13th in the world, between the average of the European Union (2.2%) and OECD countries (2.7%), and the gap with OECD countries has further narrowed.
Enterprises, government-affiliated research institutions and universities are the three main actors of China's R&D activities. In 2022, the R&D expenses of the three major entities will be 23878.6 billion yuan, 3814.4 billion yuan and 2412.4 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 11.0%, 2.6% and 10.6% over the previous year. Among them, the contribution of enterprises to the growth of R&D funds reached 84.0%, an increase of 4.6 percentage points over the previous year, which was the main force driving the growth of R&D funds.
In terms of R&D activity types, China's basic research, applied research and experimental development funds in 2022 will be 2023.5 billion yuan, 3482.5 billion yuan and 25276,9.11 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 4.10%, 7.9% and 9.1% over the previous year. Among them, the growth rate of basic research funding was 3.2000 percentage points faster than that of R&D funding, continuing to maintain rapid growth; the total amount exceeded <> billion yuan for the first time, ranking second in the world.
China's fiscal expenditure on science and technology has shown steady growth. According to the data of the national financial final account, the national financial expenditure on science and technology in 2022 will be 11128.4 billion yuan, an increase of 361.7 billion yuan over the previous year, an increase of 3.4%.
