Nanning, September 9 (ZXS) -- "China and ASEAN are ultra-large-scale markets with a population of more than 18 billion, with highly complementary industrial bases and resource endowments, and the deep integration and development of the two sides will provide strong support for the stability of the international industrial chain and supply chain." Cong Liang, deputy director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, said recently at the 20 China-ASEAN Production Capacity and Investment Cooperation Forum.

At present, the world has entered a new period of turbulence and change, and the security and stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain have continued to be impacted. At the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "East Expo") being held here, how China and ASEAN can achieve closer industrial cooperation and improve the level of regional industrial chain and supply chain cooperation has become a hot topic of discussion among all parties.

"Two-way rush" of advantages and needs

"As one of the world's largest construction contractors, China Railway gives full play to the advantages of the whole industry chain of infrastructure construction, relies on rich management experience, professional technical level and profound talent reserve, and has participated in the construction of a number of high-quality projects with international influence, such as the Yawan high-speed railway, the China-Laos railway and the Singapore metro." Chen Yun, chairman of China Railway Co., Ltd., said at the forum.

China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd., a Fortune 500 company, has entered the ASEAN market since the 20s of the 80th century, and its current business areas involve ports, waterways, roads and bridges, airports, railways, equipment heavy industry, urban complex development, etc. "In the next step, we will jointly promote in-depth docking with the ASEAN industrial chain and explore the construction of an international production capacity cooperation demonstration zone." Chen Zhong, deputy general manager of the group, said.

China Railway and China Communications Construction are a microcosm of international production capacity cooperation between Chinese enterprises and ASEAN. Through complementary advantages and mutual allocation of resources, a large number of Chinese enterprises have taken an important step towards internationalization in ASEAN countries, and many industries in ASEAN countries have also achieved "quantity" and "quality" improvement in the process of cooperation.

Cong Liang said that China and ASEAN have formed a regional cross-border industrial chain system with complementary advantages and integrated development in the fields of equipment manufacturing, electronic information, energy resources and agricultural products, and industrial cooperation has continuously made new progress.

As of July this year, the cumulative two-way investment between China and ASEAN countries exceeded US$7 billion, and more than 3800,6500 direct investment enterprises had been established in ASEAN.

This year's East Expo highlights accurate and practical effects and creates a new platform for industrial cooperation. ASEAN countries have also actively held offline national promotion meetings and professional promotion meetings to build platforms and broaden channels for deepening multilateral and bilateral cooperation.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the East Expo. After the "Golden Decade" and "Diamond Decade", the East Expo has become a booster for the mutually beneficial development of China-ASEAN, a pragmatic platform for promoting regional economic integration, driving the landing of a number of major projects such as China, Malaysia (Malaysia) "Two Countries, Two Parks", promoting China and ASEAN as each other's largest trading partners and important investment partners, and promoting the upgrading of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area from version 1.0 to version 2.0 and towards version 3.0.

"At present, China-ASEAN is taking the promotion of industrial cooperation as an important starting point for regional industrial chain cooperation to improve quality and efficiency, and by accelerating the upgrading of traditional industries and the layout of emerging industries, stimulating more innovation vitality, cultivating new economic growth points, and creating new productivity and development advantages." Xu Ningning, executive chairman of the China-ASEAN Business Council and chairman of the Industrial Cooperation Committee of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), said in an interview with China News Agency.

China and ASEAN are the world's second and fifth largest economies, respectively. People from many countries said that China and ASEAN are opportunities for each other's development and have great potential for cooperation, and should work together to build a center of economic growth, promote cooperation in emerging industries, maintain regional peace and tranquility, and inject new impetus into global and regional economic recovery.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trung said that the current world economic recovery is slow, the cooperation needs of ASEAN and China are expanding, and the two sides should expand the cooperation areas to green economy, digital economy, circular economy, emerging materials, sharing economy and other emerging industries, so as to create new economic growth momentum.

At present, world trade unilateralism, protectionism and anti-globalization are constantly on the rise. Ge Hongliang, deputy dean of the ASEAN College of Guangxi University for Nationalities, believes that in this context, China and ASEAN should comprehensively improve the level of institutional opening-up, increase the intensity and fields of two-way opening-up, closely follow the new wave of science and technology and "Industry 4.0", focus on new economic formats, and deepen new energy cooperation.

"The two-way economic cooperation between China and ASEAN and the promotion of regional integration are not only the hope of the global economy and multilateral free and open trade and investment, but also will help promote the stable development of the international economic order." Ge Hongliang said. (End)
