Due to bacterial infestation, the discounter Lidl warns against rainbow trout fillets, which are sold in its stores. It is about the products "Nautica Rainbow Trout Fillets , 125 g" in the grades Natural and Pepper as well as the "XXL Nautica Rainbow Trout Fillets Natural, 140 g".
The manufacturer is the Danish company Agustson a/s from Vejle. As Lidl further announced, the recall applies to all products with a use-by date up to and including October 5, 2023 and the identification mark DK 4566 EG.
According to the information, the germ Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the affected products. This could, among other things, be the trigger of severe gastrointestinal complaints. A serious course of the disease could occur, for example, in infants, young children, pregnant women, as well as old and sick people. Lidl therefore warned: "Due to this health risk, customers should pay attention to the recall and not consume the products."
The smoked fish fillets were therefore withdrawn from sale. Consumers can return the affected products to all Lidl stores. The purchase price will be reimbursed without a receipt. Other products, especially rainbow trout fillets from other manufacturers, are not affected by the recall, according to Lidl.
