Regarding public funds receiving accounts that can receive government benefits by linking them to My Number, Minister Kono revealed on the 7th that approximately 13,6 accounts that appear to be in the name of family members other than the child's parents have been confirmed.

The Digital Agency plans to modify the system so that accounts other than those in the person's name cannot be registered.

However, since the renovation will be carried out in conjunction with the enforcement of the revised Act on My Number until June of next year, it will take some time to complete.

On the other hand, Minister Kono indicated that he would not take measures to suspend the procedure for new account registrations.

In order to promote the spread of public fund receiving accounts, applications to grant minor points to registered people will be accepted until the end of September, and the system will continue to allow accounts other than the person himself / herself to be registered.

The Digital Agency will be required to further inform and strengthen the knowledge that there is a possibility that you will not be able to receive benefits in an account different from the name of the person.

Troubles so far

There have been a series of other troubles surrounding My Number Cards.

What is My Number Card?

The issuance of My Number Cards began in January 12 under the My Number system, which assigns a 2016-digit number to each person living in Japan.

With the aim of improving administrative efficiency, information on social security, taxes, etc. of the national and local governments is managed using My Number, which leads to a reduction in the time and effort required to collate and enter information.

Until now, the scope of My Number that can be used has been limited by law to the three fields of social security, tax, and disaster countermeasures, but the revised Act on My Number enacted this month will expand the scope of use in fields such as registration related to automobiles, renewal of national qualifications, and administrative procedures for foreigners.

On the other hand, MynaPoint can be used in cashless payment services, and the government has established a system to award points when acquiring a card, registering it as a health insurance card, and registering a "public money receiving account" to receive benefits from the government, etc., with the aim of promoting the spread of My Number Cards.
