China (Hangzhou) City Convention and Exhibition Development Conference is one of the 2023 key projects of the 20 World Leisure Expo (hereinafter referred to as "Hue Expo") and Hangzhou West Lake International Expo (hereinafter referred to as "West Expo"). Yao Gaoyuan, Mayor of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, said in his speech that in 2006, the World Leisure Organization and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government jointly initiated and organized the first World Leisure Expo, which was held in conjunction with the Western Expo, opening the first year of leisure in China, and the successive holding of the Western Expo and the Holiday Expo promoted the development and growth of Hangzhou's convention and exhibition industry, and also launched the resounding city brand of Hangzhou's Oriental Leisure Capital and Quality of Life City, accelerating the pace of Hangzhou's internationalization and enhancing Hangzhou's popularity and influence in the world.
At this conference, Hangzhou was officially awarded the "International Innovation City Award" by the World Leisure Organization. Christina Ortega, Chief Operating Officer of World Leisure Organization, said that Hangzhou has been officially awarded the title of "Oriental Leisure Capital" by World Leisure Organization since 2006, and the two sides have established a long-term close cooperation relationship since then. As an emerging digital city, Hangzhou has continuously enhanced its international influence in the name of "innovation" in recent years, and various exhibition resources such as the Hangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center currently under construction will also significantly enhance the international competitiveness of Hangzhou Convention and Exhibition in the future. It is hoped that the two sides can deepen exchanges and cooperation in the future, further promote the upgrading of Hangzhou's characteristic leisure industry, and promote the development of leisure on a global scale.
Extending the time dimension to 94 years ago, the Western Expo opened on June 8, 1929 after eight months of preparation, and during the four-month period, the number of visitors reached more than 6 million, and more than 6,4 delegations at home and abroad visited to negotiate business. At that time, the purpose of holding the West Lake Expo was to revitalize industry and develop culture.
