For the first time, Japan will participate in the International Economic Olympiad, where high school students from all over the world compete for knowledge of economics and proposals for solving corporate issues.

The International Economic Olympiad was launched in 2018 with the aim of popularizing education in the fields of economics and finance, and this year more than 40 countries and regions will participate in the competition for knowledge of economics and finance as well as proposals for solving corporate management issues.

Since Japan this tournament, a total of five high school students and first-year university students between the ages of 16 and 19 have participated for the first time.

At the secretariat in Tokyo, staff were preparing for an online study session that would be held about once a week in the future, such as by creating explanations of past questions.

The tournament will be held in Greece for 1 days from the 24th of next month, and the Japan who are making their first appearance are aiming to advance to the top of the rankings.

A 10-year-old high school student participating in the tournament said, "Participating in the tournament is a new challenge, and I am worried, but I want to do my best and aim for as good a result as possible."

Japan the oldest of the 16-year-old university students, a 19-year-old university student, said, "This will be my first and last tournament in my first year of university, so I want to win a medal somehow Japan.
