Pei Zhuoqiang, head of Ningxia Taijin Seed Industry Co., Ltd., where the technology research center is located, introduced that as a private enterprise specializing in the research and development, breeding, promotion and export of vegetable seeds, it currently uses molecular markers and gene editing technologies to label and inoculate more than 10,17000 seedling materials every year, test and screen more than 170,70 new combinations, excavate more than <> new germplasms, and cultivate more than <> new varieties of melons and vegetables.

At present, the company has become a supplier to 27 vegetable seed enterprises in 46 countries including Mexico, the United States and the Middle East, accounting for more than 95% of Ningxia's vegetable seed export business, with an average annual export volume of 500 million US dollars.

Why can the little seed go out of Ningxia and be favored by many foreign enterprises? Pei Zhuoqiang introduced that the company invests more than 20% of its operating income in research and development every year, and transforms and applies more than 20 biological breeding technologies. "It is easy to go out and difficult to go out in agriculture, and we need to carry out breeding and research and development according to the needs of different countries." Pei Zhuoqiang gave an example: "Take zucchini, Chinese to eat grown melons, while the Middle East should eat small melons with flowers, so the seeds exported to the Middle East must be denser, so that they can grow into smaller zucchini." ”

As Ningxia's "red business card", goji berries are also being exported overseas with the help of science and technology. Pan Guoxiang, general manager of Ningxia Wolf Barry Goji Industry Co., Ltd., introduced that at present, the goji berry products produced by the enterprise are exported to 27 countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Pan Guoxiang bluntly said that goji berry products want to break through the "threshold" of developed countries, relying on scientific and technological research and development. According to reports, the enterprise was approved to establish Ningxia Goji Engineering Institute and Ningxia Goji Deep Processing Engineering Technology Research Center, and through cooperation with domestic and foreign universities and scientific research teams, developed wolfberry drinks, goji probiotic lozenges, goji seed oil and other products, successfully opened up overseas markets.

In fact, science and technology have become an important force to promote the development of modern agriculture in Ningxia. It is understood that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Ningxia Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences presided over and completed more than 800 scientific research projects, obtained 265 scientific and technological achievements, authorized 394 patents, approved 40 varieties, formulated 140 standards, and the promotion and application of a large number of scientific and technological achievements provided important scientific and technological support for the development of modern agriculture in Ningxia.
