Emmanuel Macron receives Monday morning at the Elysee Elon Musk, boss of Tesla and SpaceX and majority shareholder of Twitter, on the sidelines of the summit "Choose France", announced the Elysee, confirming information from franceinfo. They will discuss "the attractiveness of France and its industries," the presidency said. Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, who is due to have lunch with the American billionaire, said on BFMTV-RMC that "negotiations" were "underway", the arrival of the second richest man in the world for this summit constituting, according to him, "a very strong signal". "All the investments that are being made today are the result of months, even years of negotiations," insisted the minister.

Emmanuel Macron and Elon Musk had already met

Emmanuel Macron and Elon Musk had already met in December in New Orleans during the visit to the United States of the French president. They had, according to the latter, "a clear and sincere discussion" and exchanged on "future green industrial projects such as the production of electric vehicles and batteries".

About Twitter, bought in October 2022 by Elon Musk, Emmanuel Macron had recalled that the social network must "make the effort to comply with European regulations" in terms of "transparent conditions of use", "significant strengthening of content moderation" and "protection of freedom of expression". Elon Musk said in response "impatient" about "exciting projects in France", without detailing them further.

Since he bought Twitter, the American billionaire has wrung it out of his employees and many advertisers have deserted the platform, scalded by its management to the hussarde including a disruption of the authentication system of accounts.
