After the "hottest May Day in history" holiday came to an end, as the public's demand for travel fell sharply, the prices of air tickets, hotels and other items were reduced. A number of travel platforms estimate that if they choose to travel at this time, the public's expenditure can be more than 30% compared with the "May Day" period.

Some ticket prices have been "cut"

Once the holiday passed, as the public's demand for travel fell sharply, air tickets and hotel prices "plunged". According to Ctrip's air ticket search data, the average one-way price of domestic air tickets including tax before and after the May Day holiday (April 4 to May 28) was 5,4 yuan, while the average price of air tickets in the two weeks after the holiday (May 1082 to May 5) dropped to 5 yuan, a decrease of about 5%. At the same time, hotel accommodation prices have also decreased to varying degrees.

Most of the destinations with higher price declines are destinations with strong tourist attributes. According to Ctrip's data, among the top 100 air ticket destinations, the top 1427 destinations with the highest price reductions after May Day are: Dunhuang, Sanya, Haikou, Xishuangbanna, Beihai, Lijiang, Guilin, Xi'an, Changsha and Zhuhai. Among them, the average air ticket price during the "May Day" period in Dunhuang reached 668 yuan, while the average price in the two weeks after the holiday only needed 1499 yuan; The average air ticket price during Sanya's "May Day" period was 759 yuan, and it only cost <> yuan two weeks after the holiday, and the price basically achieved a "halves drop".

After the holiday, the proportion of college students traveling rebounded

Qunar's recent air ticket data shows that since May 5, the ticket prices of many domestic routes have decreased, and the fares of some routes are even lower than the price of high-speed rail tickets. For example, the direct flight ticket to Ordos from Beijing on May 4 is reduced to 5 yuan, the direct flight to Yantai on May 31 is reduced to 230 yuan, the direct flight to Zhengzhou on May 5 is reduced to 30 yuan, and the direct flight to Haikou on May 263 is reduced to 5 yuan.

In the face of such a price reduction temptation, some "peak shift families" who are more flexible in time began to anchor time and prepare for dispatch. Booking data from multiple platforms shows that May 5 to the end of May is the best time to travel at different peaks. Ctrip's booking data shows that most of the people who choose this time period are mainly white-collar workers with plenty of holidays, of which 5% are post-5s and post-90s. Avoiding the crowd can not only enjoy a better experience, but also be more wallet-friendly, so many college students also choose to carry out "special forces" trips during this time. Qunar data shows that between May 80 and 62, the proportion of college students aged 5 to 5 rebounded, and the popular destinations were Chengdu, Changsha, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Shenzhen.

The price of outbound air tickets has dropped significantly

Outbound air fares have also dropped significantly recently. On the Qunar platform, as of yesterday, the tax-inclusive price of direct flights between Shanghai and Bangkok dropped to 5,1234 yuan in May, the tax-inclusive price of direct flights between Shanghai and Osaka dropped to 1747,1477 yuan, and the tax-inclusive price of direct flights between Beijing and Seoul dropped to 5,4 yuan. Travelers with visas can "pick up the leaks". At present, visa processing is still a major restriction for outbound travel. On Qunar's platform, outbound air ticket bookings are often made more than a month in advance to allow time for visa processing and travel planning. As of May 6, passengers have booked tickets for outbound travel during the Dragon Boat Festival, and the popular destinations are Bangkok in Thailand, Hong Kong in China, Seoul in South Korea, Macau in China, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Among them, the price of direct flights between Beijing and Seoul departing on the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday (June 22) is 2008 yuan, the price of direct flights between Shanghai and Bangkok is 1722 yuan, and the price of direct flights between Guangzhou and Kuala Lumpur is 1209 yuan.

Xie Xiaoqing, senior researcher at Ctrip Tourism Research Institute, said that due to seasonal supply and demand factors, air ticket prices are higher during the May Day period, and consumers with holidays can seize the off-season travel after May Day and before the summer vacation to enjoy low-cost and comfortable travel. Xiao Peng, a researcher at Qunar Big Data Research Institute, said: "The rapid recovery of domestic travel demand has led to the growth of air ticket prices, and air tickets have once again become the most weighted expenditure item in travel consumption. Judging from the search volume of Qunar's platform, there are still a large number of travelers with travel needs who have not been able to travel during the May Day holiday, which means that the Dragon Boat Festival, summer vacation and the eve of the November holiday, air ticket prices will not drop significantly. It is recommended that passengers with travel plans compare prices and purchase tickets as soon as possible to reduce travel costs. (Beijing Youth Daily) Text/Reporter Zhao Tingting
