The G7 = Agriculture Ministers' Meeting of the seven major countries held in Miyazaki City came to a close after two days of discussions.
Expressing deep concern about the impact of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine on food security, Prime Minister Abe adopted a ministerial statement that includes agricultural assistance to Ukraine and strengthening sustainable food systems.

The meeting, which was held with the main theme of strengthening food security, ended with the adoption of the Ministerial Statement.

It strongly condemns Russia's military invasion of Ukraine and is deeply concerned about the impact on global food security, such as soaring grain and fertilizer prices.

In addition, in order to rebuild agriculture in Ukraine, Japan has announced that it will remove landmines buried in farmland, restore agricultural facilities such as waterways and warehouses destroyed by the Russian military, and support farmers' financing.

He also emphasized the growing importance of resilient and sustainable food systems due to prolonged military invasions and climate change, and said that domestic agriculture will be strengthened and trade will be promoted at the same time, diversifying food supply chains and improving productivity.

In conjunction with the Ministerial Statement, an action plan called "Miyazaki Action" for the realization of sustainable agriculture was adopted, and it was confirmed that a wide range of innovations will be incorporated into the agricultural sector and agricultural policies will be strengthened to reduce greenhouse gases.

The Japan of the Presidency intends to reflect the adopted ministerial statement in the discussions at the G7 Hiroshima Summit to be held next month.
