G7 = Agriculture Ministers' Meeting of seven major countries began in Miyazaki City. As Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues for a long time, the focus is on whether we can agree on expanding agricultural production and providing assistance to developing countries to strengthen food security.

The G7 Agriculture Ministers' Meeting was held in Miyazaki City for two days on June 22 and 23, and the plenary meeting began at 2 a.m. on June 22, attended by ministers from various countries.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Nomura, who chairs the meeting, stated, "We, the G7, have played a central role in leading global discussions, and in the face of a situation that jeopardizes food security, we need to hold serious discussions and disseminate solutions to the world in order to make agriculture and food systems sustainable."

Due to the prolonged invasion of Ukraine by Russia and climate change issues, food prices have soared worldwide, and concerns about food crises are increasing in developing countries.

For this reason, food security is the main theme of this meeting, and discussions are expected to be held on how to expand agricultural production, how to utilize that know-how in support for developing countries, and how to realize environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture.

It is also expected to announce support for the reconstruction of Ukraine's agriculture, which has suffered damage to many farmlands and agricultural facilities due to the military invasion from Russia, and the focus will be on whether the G7 countries can agree on expanding agricultural production and supporting developing countries to strengthen food security.
