At the beginning of April, Europe 1 takes stock of its fourth inflation basket with panelist Circana. This is marked by the first effects of trade negotiations. Over one month, this basket increased by 1.39 euros, a significant increase recorded in February and March, and only a few products are exceptions.

This is the fourth Europe 1 basket at the beginning of April, still in a period of high inflation. And for this fourth edition, produced with panelist Circana (former IRI), the first effects of trade negotiations are being felt on the Europe 1 basket. Indeed, over one month, it increases by 1.39 euros. This is a significant increase between February and March. In reality, this increase reflects the effect of negotiations between manufacturers and distributors, which have led to increases supposed to take into account the increase in production costs, especially raw materials.

Shampoo and honey, two exceptions

These negotiations concerned the products of national brands, and if we look at the basket in detail, this is confirmed. The 6-liter pack of national brand semi-skimmed milk increases by 32 cents. The ten national brand coffee pods increase by 22 cents. The kilo of national brand spaghetti increases by 17 cents. All over a month only.

There are, however, some exceptions: shampoo and honey, whose prices are falling. The panelist Circana tells Europe 1 that this is the effect of stronger promotions in March. Circana also indicates that price increases will be even more sustained in April.
