Unexpected revolution in the board of directors of Iberia. According to the information published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry (Borme), the former CEO of El Corte Inglés Víctor del Pozo has left his seat on the board, as has the former financial director of the same company Óscar Fernández, who has also communicated his departure.

These changes in the board of directors of the airline, which have caught by surprise this Friday, cause a turn in the dome in a matter of hours. This is the departure from the board of Iberia of two heavyweights of a company, such as El Corte Inglés, with a large presence.

It should be borne in mind that El Corte Inglés has a great weight in the board of Iberia since its subsidiary Garanair owns 50.1% of the voting rights over IB Opco Holding, parent of the airline. So the search for replacements to these vacancies quickly has been key.

In fact, given these dismissals, the director of corporate business of El Corte Inglés and non-executive president of the company's financial company, Santiago Bau, and the director of Corporate Legal and M&A of the firm, Rafael Diaz Yeregui, have already joined the board.

To these changes are added other movements in the part of the council that corresponds to IAG. Specifically, the Corporate Director of Iberia, Juan Cierco, and the Director of Customers and Loyalty of the airline, María Jesús López Solás.

At the moment it is unknown who will relieve these two important figures on the board of directors. Yes, it has already been confirmed that the Director of Finance and Strategic Planning of Iberia, José Antonio Barrionuevo Urgel, has joined as a director.
