There are heroes in the heart, and peaks in the eyes.

Zhai Bin, who has founded the public welfare organization "Yuting Action" for more than ten years, and is currently the general manager of Shenzhen Talent Group, said that "serving the national reserve talent" is his original intention, and "seeing, experiencing, dedicating and growing" is the purpose of the Yuting Action.

Operation Yuting is named after Zhai Bin's maternal grandfather and the famous anti-Japanese national hero Lu Yuting martyr.

This inheritance comes from the family and country feelings continued by the century-old family, and also from the spiritual bloodline of thousands of years of Chinese culture.

Mangdang cultivates talented Kunpeng to spread its wings

From Zhengzhou to the east, through Kaifeng, past Shangqiu, is Yongcheng. On the green field of a horse Pingchuan, I suddenly saw a mountain rising from the flat land - the Mangtang Mountains.

Although the mountain range is not high, it has left many important historical sites since the Spring and Autumn and the Qin and Han dynasties. Confucius once sheltered from the rain on the cliff and wrote books, Liu Bang once beheaded snakes at the foot of the mountain to Xinghan, Zhang Fei once set up camp on the mountain, and the grandson of the famous ancestor of Han Gaozu, King Liang Xiao, also left a magnificent royal tomb here.

This place full of historical and humanistic atmosphere is the hometown of the martyr Lu Yuting. The martyr grew up here since childhood, and in his thoughts about the fate of his family and country, he dreamed that he was a great peng, so he changed his name to "Yu Ting", aiming to "the country with wings, the people of Yulu." ”

Born on November 1899, 11, Lu Yuting graduated from Henan Law and Politics School and Henan Kaifeng Hongwei Military Non-commissioned Officer School, and successively served as the flag officer and military judge of the Henan Governor's Office, the director of the Military Law Department of the Jianguo Yu Army, the magistrate of Wu'an County in Henan, the director of the Nanjing Office of the 18st Army of the National Revolutionary Army, the representative of the commander, and the magistrate of Yongcheng County in the Fifth War Zone. In the year of Lu Yuting's hair, he took the world as his responsibility. During the Great Revolution, he wrote to Dr. Sun Yat-sen "Ten Policies for the Founding of the People's Republic". After the defeat of the Great Revolution, at the age of 28, Lu Yuting was sponsored as a legislator of the National Government, but because he hated official corruption, he gave up and stopped Lin Quan to help his father build forests and run schools. After the "9/18" incident, Lu Yuting, then 31 years old, wrote a book and published in Ta Kung Pao "A Message to the National Authorities in a National Disaster", calling on the authorities to "sacrifice prejudices", unite in the war of resistance, and "the veins of the country are endless"!

In 1937, when his great enemy was present, he was appointed as the magistrate of Yongcheng County in a crisis, and launched a vigorous anti-Japanese rescue movement. In November 1938, after the fall of Yongcheng to the Japanese invaders, he refused the advice of his friends to withdraw to the rear and the kindness of entrusting him with an important post in the army, risked his death to sneak back to Yongcheng, sold his family's land, bought guns and ammunition, and started as a soldier in the name of 11, and raised an anti-Japanese guerrilla group. In August 1939, inspired by the Communist Party's anti-Japanese policy, he met Peng Xuefeng, who was then the commander of the guerrilla detachment of the New Fourth Army, and resolutely led a guerrilla force of nearly 8,<> people, reorganized into the First General Corps of the New Fourth Army Guerrilla Detachment, served as its commander, and joined the Communist Party of China with the approval of the CPC Central Committee. Like a tiger with wings, he dealt a fierce blow to the Japanese invaders and their accomplices, and made meritorious contributions to the establishment of the Xia Yongdang Anti-Japanese Base Area.

On April 1940, 4, he led more than 1 men of his headquarters and more than 200,3000 Japanese puppet troops who came to encircle and suppress the First General Brigade, and fought a bloody battle at Li Heilou in Mangtang Mountain, repelling five Japanese attacks and annihilating more than 300 Japanese invaders, creating a battle example of winning more with less. Unfortunately, when he withdrew from the battle, he was shot several times and was heroically martyred! He was 40 years old.

On the third day after Lu Yuting sacrificed his life for the country, Commander Peng Xuefeng sent a letter to Mr. Lu Ziming in the rear, informing him of the bad news: "Brother Yuting commanded his troops to fight a bloody battle with the enemy in Shancheng on the first day of this month, and when he was settling the battle, he unfortunately shot him in the head and was martyred. Since joining our army last year, Brother Yuting has repeatedly attacked the enemy along the Longhai Sea after leading his troops to fight behind enemy lines, and has killed Yokoyama Shaosa, Sano Wing Captain and Captain Kitayama back and forth. ”

When Mr. Lu Ziming read the telegram sent by Commander Peng, he received a long letter, and for a while five thunders hit the top, and old tears ran rampant, and his grief could not be calmed for a long time. But he faced this great grief with extraordinary perseverance and noble feelings.

In his extreme grief, he wrote Comrade Fu Peng Xuefeng's book: "Mr. Xuefeng, I can't help but cry when I read my hands, I can't help crying!" Between father and son, nature dictates that it is difficult for oneself. In addition to grief, there are still a few points to masturbate in many ways. The child died for the resistance to Japan, and died at the right time, this is one; Died in battle, died on the ground, and second; Joining the party today, resisting Japan and saving the country, and fighting for the freedom and liberation of the country and the nation, he did not hesitate to martyr himself; The reason why I teach my children is just that, and if my children's aspirations are fulfilled, I am willing to pay them, and this is the fourth. Life has death, as long as death is worth it, what regrets! Unfortunately, his son died too early and failed to expel the Wokou abroad, and he saw the complete success of the Three People's Principles that he was pleased with and sincere, and Jiuquan was not without regret. The Xinhua Daily, run by the CCP in Chongqing, published these two letters between Penglu, and the editor's note said, "Mr. Lu's words are sad and strong, and his patriotic enthusiasm is admirable!" ”

Three generations of Mingqizhi have endured for a hundred years

Martyr Lu Yuting is one of the top ten martyrs in Henan Province. In 2014, he was announced by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as one of the first 300 famous anti-Japanese martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country in the Anti-Japanese War.

Lu Yuting's patriotism is closely related to the education of his father's generation. He comes from a large family with nearly 1928,42 acres of fertile land. His father Lu Ziming is the richest man in the north of the county, but his chivalrous and enthusiastic spirits, helping the poor and helping the poor, standing up for public welfare, and his reputation is far and wide. In his life, Mr. Lu Ziming attached great importance to education, ran a bleak business, and cultivated a large number of talents for the country and the War of Resistance. As early as the "seventeenth year of the Republic of China", when the country was poor and weak and surrounded by tigers and wolves of the great powers, Mr. Lu Ziming, who took education and saving the country as his own responsibility, wrote down the four big characters of "Reserve talent for the country", which were engraved on the lintels of his "big army tent". He founded <> junior primary schools and a rural normal school, and it was this spirit of patriotism and love for the country and talent that led Lu Yuting to the height and realm of "winged country, Yulu people".

Although Lu Yuting is an only son, he has a strict tutor. The father and son often talked all night or exchanged letters about the fate of the country and the nation. At the beginning of the War of Resistance, father and son competed to shoulder the responsibility of the War of Resistance, and their emotional people; Later, he "destroyed the family and relieved the difficulties" and left a good story.

The seven sons and daughters of the martyr Lu Yuting, under the words and deeds of their grandparents, all joined the Communist Party of China, three of whom joined the army, and later grew up to become scientists, state cadres, directors of military hospitals, and principals of elementary schools.

The grand ambition of the Lu father and son to "serve the national reserve talent" has stretched endlessly in the past hundred years.

The torch has been passed down for two centuries

Since he was a child, Zhai Bin remembered that he had a copy of "Martyrs' Eternal Life" at home, which included Lu Yuting's life, the memories of his comrades-in-arms, reports by war correspondents and a full-page commemorative special issue published by the New Fourth Army Dawn News for the sacrifice of martyrs, as well as Chen Yi's evaluation of martyrs. But what impressed him the most was the reply that Old Man Lu Ziming received from Senior Commander Peng Xuefeng informing him of the martyr's sacrifice of Lu Yuting.

Since he was a child, Zhai Bin has been proud that he was born into a military family and is a martyr. But in his heart, there has always been a question mark: what makes the spirit of martyrdom, what power creates this sense of family and country? He did not expect that the answer to this question would be found more than thirty years later.

As an adult, with China's reform and opening up, Zhai Bin experienced the luckiest thirty years of his generation: starting a business at sea, studying abroad, multinational companies, and returning from overseas. He also went through the toughest survival test: working in a restaurant while pursuing an MBA; Received a withdrawal notice because he failed to pay the expensive business school tuition fee in time; a few dollars a day for living expenses, living on only food packed home by restaurants; I was lucky enough to join an American management strategy consulting firm, and although I worked hard day and night, I was put on a watch list because of cultural differences and ability gaps, and faced almost fire. At the same time, he is the luckiest of all, in every desperate situation, there are noble people to help: family and friends who help him; Partners who create opportunities for him to grow; Speak out about his shortcomings, appreciate his strengths, and not give up on his mentor easily when he gets into a career dilemma.

It was this experience that made him realize how lucky it is to have someone to help everyone grow up. It was this experience that when he received an invitation from the world's top executive search company, Egon Zehnder, he joined without hesitation.

In 2005, he returned to his mother's hometown of Yongcheng, Henan Province for the first time to attend the commemorative meeting for the <>th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the <>th anniversary of the martyrdom of Lu Yuting. He deeply felt the party, government, military and people in this hot land, and after <> years of martyrdom, they still have a strong respect for and deep remembrance for national heroes. When the taxi driver he was riding in learned that the guest was a descendant of Lu Yuting, he refused to charge; He saw that in order to thank Lu Ziming for running a school and benefiting the villagers, the local people set up the Lu's Stele Forest for him in the thirties; He saw his hometown full of schools, villages, memorials and even city avenues named after martyrs. Especially when he saw the plaque with four big characters "for the national reserve talent" on the former residence of his great-grandfather Lu Ziming, he seemed to understand his destiny and mission in an instant! These four words made him feel the guidance in the underworld. The seeds of "saving talents for the country" were sown.

In 2008, Zhai Bin, who had just graduated from Harvard Business School, introduced a Harvard alumnus who had gone abroad as a child and lived abroad for a long time to volunteer at Yuting School. In a few months, this "Harvard sister" brought not only knowledge to the children, but also opened a new window to the world for the children. Inspired by this, he decided to bring useful experiences and insights to rural teenagers by creating a public welfare activity to help school children, and to serve his fathers and elders in his hometown. The Yuting Action is based on the principle of "taking the rain to run the talents, taking the pavilion to protect the talents" and the method of "seeing, experiencing, dedicating and growing" to achieve the purpose of "saving talents for the country".

With the support of the descendants of the martyrs of Lu Yuting and his former comrades-in-arms, Zhai Bin launched the "Operation Yuting" in 2009, and over the past ten years, it has received the support of many enthusiastic people and Chinese and foreign enterprises and institutions, benefiting nearly 200 poor children in rural areas and 50 rural teachers. Operation Rain Pavilion also received the participation and support of hundreds of volunteers, entrepreneurs and celebrities from all walks of life.

Zhai Bin believes that what rural children lack today is not computers, mobile phones, books, and tuition fees, but the understanding of the outside world, the edification of values, and the opportunity to contact and learn from people from all walks of life. Unlike most other non-profit organizations, the children involved in the rain pavilion action hope to participate not only as passive beneficiaries, but as an experience and dedication of public welfare actions. He believes that allowing children to "grow" through "dedication" is the best way for them to realize their own worth and growth.

These hundreds of children have had many "firsts" in their lives in the "Operation Rain Pavilion": the first time to see the sea, the first time to watch the flag-raising ceremony in Tiananmen Square, the first time to ride in a driverless smart car, the first time to play rugby, the first time to visit a museum, the first time to attend classes at Harvard Center and Yale Center, the first time to take a programming class, the first time to watch a three-dimensional animated film, the first time to make and taste coffee; They went to Google, Mercedes, Amazon; They met many "celebrities" and "successful people", the chief representative of the International Olympic Committee, Harvard alumni, the star of the Guoan football team, the founder of NIO...

But what I feel the most is to accompany the children of the school of migrant workers as a small volunteer, to take care of burned children, to visit the lonely elderly, to play games with mentally disabled children... In the past ten years, more and more Yuting children have graduated from college, grown up and entered the society. What each of them longed for most was to be able to come back to participate in Operation Rain Pavilion, wear a black T-shirt, and volunteer for Operation Rain Pavilion.

"The rain pavilion action gave me far more than I paid." Zhai Bin said. His three children have all participated in Operation Rain Pavilion since they were young. The eldest daughter has participated in ten consecutive Rain Pavilion operations since she was seven years old. The youngest son and daughter have been sitting in a stroller with the Yuting brothers and sisters since they were born. "I made small black volunteer T-shirts for my children so that they could learn how to give and give from an early age. When I saw my daughter's college application essay that included Operation Rain Pavilion as the life event that had the greatest impact on her values, I felt that everything I gave was worth it. ”

Through public welfare, we bring beneficial experiences and insights to rural teenagers in our hometowns, and through the "Rain Pavilion Action" public welfare program, we take children in the mountains to see the outside world every year. Those science and technology museums, libraries, high-tech enterprises, and the inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and philanthropists let children see that the world is vast and promising, and give birth to more lofty dreams in the hearts of rural children.

Three years ago, Shenzhen selected the general manager of Shenzhen Talent Group to the world through the top executive search company in the United States. Shenzhen Talent Group is the earliest and most influential state-owned talent group in China. Zhai Bin was the CEO of China at a soon-to-be-listed US new energy vehicle company. But after he officially received the offer, he quit his job without hesitation and went south. "What I value most is the four words in the company's name: 'Shenzhen' and 'Talent'. Shenzhen represents youth and future, and talent is my destiny and mission. ”

Before coming to Shenzhen, Zhai Bin invited friends from his hometown to go to the former residence of Mr. Lu Ziming, and made two rubbings of "Talents for the National Reserve" from the lintel of the former residence. One of them is hanging in his current office, while the other was auctioned by Kai Tak Education investors at the 2020 Ping An Private Bank charity auction for nearly <>,<> RMB and is now hanging in the board room of Kai Tak Education Group.

With the help of Shenzhen Social Welfare Foundation and Ping An Private Bank, the Yuting Initiative is also moving from "grassroots" to professional and institutionalized.

"Operation Rain Pavilion is about to enter her fifteenth year, and it is her cardamom years. But we've always been a grassroots nonprofit. Unexpectedly, Shenzhen is actually a blessed place for the Yuting operation. Not long after Zhai Bin came to Shenzhen, Ping An Private Bank and Shenzhen Social Welfare Foundation learned the significance of the Yuting action. On July 2021, 7, the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, they officially established the "Yuting Action for National Reserve Talent Foundation", and the Yuting Action finally had its own home. After the establishment of the fund, the "Rain Pavilion Action" will be able to better develop and sustain development, and train more children to become pillars of national construction.

In recent years, China's high-net-worth individuals have become more mature in the choice of private banks, shifting from the past to the demand for professional services, including financial and non-financial services. Ping An Private Bank launched the Hope Club platform. As a hopeful entrepreneur of Ping An Private Bank, Zhai Bin has received strong support from the bank.

From understanding Zhai Bin's needs to setting up a special fund, it took only one month. Zhai Bin said that it is precisely because of the professional support of Ping An Private Bank that the "Yuting Action" can quickly take the first step from "grassroots" to institutionalization. In the future, the special public welfare fund will be more strict and professional in fund management, and drive more institutions and enterprises to participate in public welfare undertakings.
