• Social Security Brawl between Feijóo and Escrivá over pensions in Brussels: "It is irresponsible and a lack of patriotism"

José Luis Escrivá's pension reform does not ensure the sustainability of the system. It is not enough for the spending commitments reached and therefore generates more deficits. And who warns is the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), which in addition to accrediting a remarkable credibility in its work, is the body that Escrivá himself presided over and started from scratch before jumping to the Ministry of Social Security. The fact that it is the AIReF that overturns its reform, therefore, is almost ironic.

"The reforms approved in 2021 and 2023 increase the deficit of 1.1 points of GDP in 2050 and one point in 2070 compared to a scenario without these reforms and with the IRPF and the sustainability factor", certifies the body chaired by Cristina Herrero in her opinion on the sustainability of Public Administrations that this Friday has published. In this document, AIReF analyzes and examines the actions designed by its former president, and the result is clearly negative.

The pronouncement of the AIReF, in addition, occurs just the day after Escrivá criticized with great harshness the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who this Thursday said in Brussels that the reform was a "patch" and that it did not ensure the future of Social Security.

"

It ensures sustainability," Escrivá responded, while accusing the popular president of being "irresponsible," "frivolous" and unpatriotic. Escrivá, and also Vice President Calviño, who in Congress expressed herself in very similar terms. AIReF, today, contradicts the version of the Minister of Social Security.
