Toyota Industries Co., Ltd., a Toyota Motor Corporation Group company headquartered in Aichi Prefecture, announced that it may have violated laws and regulations such as using measurements from other tests in endurance tests for forklift engines.
The company will stop shipping forklifts equipped with such engines.

Toyota Industries held a press conference on the 17th and revealed that it may have violated laws and regulations in endurance tests of diesel and gasoline engines for forklifts set by the government.

Specifically, they used measurements from other tests for the same type of engine or estimates that were not actually tested, and it was confirmed that the components contained in exhaust gas in diesel engines exceeded domestic regulatory values when they deteriorated over time.

Nearly 16,6 forklifts equipped with these engines had been sold by the end of last month, so the company has decided to suspend shipments and consider measures such as recalling some of the forklifts already sold.

In addition, in response to this issue, Chairman Tetsuro Toyoda and President Akira Onishi will decline six months' monthly remuneration.

At the press conference, President Onishi apologized, saying, "I would like to express my deepest apologies for the great inconvenience caused to everyone involved, and I will do my utmost to prevent a recurrence."
