In anticipation of the full-scale spread of the Metaverse, a virtual space on the Internet, development competition is intensifying among major telecommunications companies.

A service that allows you to reproduce the artist's realistic concert in a virtual space will also start this summer.

The service launched by KDDI shoots an artist's concert from all angles, digitally processes it, and reproduces it three-dimensionally in a virtual space, the Metaverse.

Viewers can view images from any angle, 360 degrees, and for artists, it is possible to create performances that would be difficult in an actual concert.

In addition, there is also a service that reproduces the inside of an apparel shop in a virtual space just like the real thing and allows visitors to purchase products, and the company plans to start each service this summer.

Kazuhiko Nakama, Deputy General Manager of the Business Creation Division, said, "We want to provide a service that allows users to stay in the Metaverse on a daily basis, and we want to generate 100 billion yen in sales over the next three years."

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' White Paper on Information and Communications, the global market for the Metaverse was 4.264 trillion yen in 2021, and is expected to expand approximately 18-fold to 78.8705 trillion yen in 2030.

NTT DOCOMO is investing 60 billion yen in these Metaverse services, and SoftBank is also developing new services.
