It became clear that NTT and KDDI will cooperate in the development of next-generation optical communication technology.

We aim to become the global standard for the next-generation mobile phone standard, 6G.

In the next-generation optical communication technology, NTT is developing a communication network called "IOWN", and by around 2030, communication capacity will be 125 times greater than that of mobile phone communication standard "4G", etc. We aim to reduce power consumption such as 1/100.

According to people involved, NTT and KDDI will soon enter into a partnership for joint development based on this technology.

The two companies are in a competitive relationship in the mobile phone business, but by working together in next-generation development, they aim to establish a global standard, especially in the field of the next-generation 6G mobile phone standard.

Regarding next-generation communication technology, not only the realization of technology for exchanging large amounts of data, but also the ever-increasing power consumption of communication equipment and servers has become a major issue.

This is the first time that the two companies have collaborated in the field of communication technology, and expectations are likely to rise for the establishment of next-generation optical communication technology.
