Kobe Beef, a high-grade Japanese beef that is gaining popularity overseas, will be exported to Saudi Arabia in the Middle East for the first time.

We would like to expand consumption in the Middle East, where there are many wealthy people.

In Saudi Arabia, which is governed based on a strict interpretation of Islam, beef is processed according to religious rules and can only be eaten with "Halal certification".

Under these circumstances, "Kobe beef" processed at a meat facility that meets the standards of "Halal certification" will be exported for the first time in March.

A commemorative ceremony was held in Kobe City on February 24, and about 30 people attended, including representatives of the Kobe Meat Distribution Promotion Council, an organization made up of producers, and Muslim groups in Tokyo. I thoroughly enjoyed the "Kobe Beef" steak.

A Muslim man said, 'It's different from American and Australian beef, and it's delicious.I'm happy that I can eat it in Saudi Arabia.'

Tomoshige Kanzawa, chairman of the Kobe Beef Distribution Promotion Council, said, "The demand for eating out has declined due to the corona crisis, and production costs have risen recently, and producers are in a difficult situation, so we want to increase exports. I want people all over the world to taste it deliciously," he said.
