Egyptian-Syrian relations were

severed in 2013

by Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi, who even raised the possibility of sending jihadists to fight against Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Since then, relations have warmed up a bit, but not resumed.

This did not prevent Egypt from sending humanitarian aid and dispatching rescue teams to Damascus.

Cairo did the same with Turkey.

A Turkey with which diplomatic relations have not been severed,

but reduced

, due to Ankara's support for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Relations that are gradually warming since Presidents Sisi and Erdogan met during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and, most recently, Turkey expelled a Muslim Brotherhood journalist who was campaigning against the Egyptian regime through a television channel. broadcasting from Istanbul.
