JuneYao's car manufacturing is not just for selling cars, but as a link in the chain of the large travel sector it is laying out.

"At present, the situation of aviation recovery is relatively good. Judging from Juneyao Airlines itself, we can definitely turn around losses."

In an interview with a reporter from China Business News today, Wang Junjin, chairman of JuneYao Group, gave an optimistic expectation for the full recovery of the aviation market this year.

At present, the aviation segment is one of the important business segments of the JuneYao Group, but not long ago, the JuneYao Group announced its entry into the car manufacturing industry. The first new energy SUV Yuntu will be officially launched on February 28.

  Why did JuneYao build cars?

How will it cooperate with existing business sectors such as aviation?

Wang Junjin also responded to this.

Making cars is not just for selling cars

JuneYao entered the new energy vehicle industry through joint venture with Yundu Automobile, a new force in car manufacturing.

In previous interviews with China Business News and other media, Wang Junjin emphasized the need for a profitable model and was not in a hurry to collect money.

In today's interview, Wang Junjin further explained that "making a profitable model" is first of all to control costs.

"We have made a model of various costs, including the cost comparison of each small part, and then calculate how many cars will be built according to the model, how much gross profit can be made, and how much fixed costs account for. The accounts must be calculated clearly."

For example, Yuntu, which is about to be launched, is priced at 80,000 to 100,000 yuan, and plans to set production based on sales.

"The overall gross profit of the first car is there. The planned output this year will not be fully put into the market for external sales, but as part of our own use of the layout of the travel ecosystem. In addition, internal employees have already applied for more than 1,000 units." Wang Junjin revealed, "Our goal is to be profitable within three years, and share some of the early research and development. If there is no profit, we will do it slowly instead of burning money and greedy for big things."

The "travel ecosystem" that Wang Junjin refers to means that in addition to the two major travel scenarios of aviation and ground transportation that he has already set foot in, he will gradually expand business layouts such as car rental and time-sharing leasing, and even integrate resources such as hotels and scenic spots to build vacation tourism. big travel ecology.

This also means that JuneYao builds cars not just to sell cars, but as a link in the chain of the large travel sector it is laying out.

"Therefore, the manufactured cars are in demand in our own travel business ecology, and the subsequent maintenance and parts replacement will be in our own factory, and the cost will be lower," Wang Junjin said. Customers of various business chains in the future ecology will also It can be shared. For example, the owner of Yuntu can also use the airport lounge of Juneyao Airlines, and can further open up points in the future.

Aviation business expected to turn losses this year

As for JuneYao, which has been in the aviation business for 20 years, it has finally overcome the impact of the epidemic this year.

"Now our flight volume is close to 2019 before the epidemic, and it is expected that the summer and autumn season flight volume will exceed 2019," Wang Junjin told reporters. The recovery speed of the international aviation market depends on different regions. China and the United States will be slower, and Europe will be faster. One point, Southeast Asia is faster.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China revealed last week that my country has resumed scheduled passenger flights with 58 countries, and 98 Chinese and foreign airlines have implemented a total of 795 flights. However, the current international passenger flight volume has only recovered to 9% of the pre-epidemic level.

In this regard, a number of industry insiders responsible for the development of international routes revealed to reporters that the pace of flight recovery will not be "full of blood" immediately. First, it is related to the gradual recovery of local support capabilities. During the five-one” restriction policy, many airlines’ local offices in some countries have been closed, and it will take time to restart; secondly, airlines should also comprehensively consider whether passenger demand can return to pre-epidemic levels in a short period of time At present, there are still some countries that have not lifted the entry restrictions on Chinese tourists.

Wang Junjin believes that the resumption of international routes will reach its peak during the summer travel season. At present, Juneyao Airlines is gradually resuming the international routes that have been opened before the epidemic, and is planning to open some new intercontinental routes.

In addition, Jiuyuan Airlines, a low-cost airline of Juneyao Holdings, is also planning international routes to Southeast Asia from its main base in Guangzhou, and the entire aviation sector will continue to implement the dual-hub and dual-brand strategy.

Prior to this, the Civil Aviation Administration set the goal for China's civil aviation in 2023: strive to complete the total transportation turnover of 97.6 billion ton-kilometers, the passenger transportation volume of 460 million person-times, and the cargo and mail transportation volume of 6.17 million tons, and the overall recovery to about 75% before the epidemic level, and strive to achieve a break-even balance.

In the past 2022, the industry-wide loss reached 216 billion yuan, and the cumulative loss since the epidemic reached 400 billion yuan.

Juneyao Airlines (603885) has not been able to survive alone. The company has announced that it expects a loss of 3.57 billion to 4.23 billion yuan in 2022, a loss of 498 million yuan in 2021, and a loss of 474 million yuan in 2020.

However, Wang Junjin is more optimistic about Juneyao Airlines’ operation and performance forecast this year. In addition to believing that the number of flights will definitely exceed the level of 2019 before the epidemic, he is also full of confidence in the company’s turnaround this year.
