El Corte Inglés

plans

to reduce the number of workers

in the central and regional administrative services, for which

it will offer them their transfer to the stores

and, in the case of the more than half a thousand who are

over 59 years of age, incentivized leave

.

This is how the group notified the unions this Friday, to which it has detailed its

intention to "reorganize" the staff

of its central services to reinforce the stores.

In a statement, the chain of shopping centers details that

the objective of this measure is to "strengthen the stores

, attend to the good evolution of sales and improve customer service and attention."

El Corte Inglés explains that "the modernization of processes and systems" that it has implemented in recent months have promoted an "optimization of management" that allows the staff of its central services to be slimmed down "for the benefit of commercial establishments" .

"The initiative will be

agreed upon, coordinated and managed

with the workers' representatives," said El Corte Inglés, which, consulted by EFE, did not provide details of how many of its 79,804 workers are employed in central services or the number of those who aspire to mobilize with this measure.

What he did explain is that this initiative has been designed under two premises:

maintaining employment and offering special treatment

for the most veteran employees (over 59 years of age), most of whom maintain a long relationship with the company. .

Sources close to the company have assured that just over 500 employees of the central services are in that age group and therefore, in principle, they could benefit from incentivized redundancies.

The incentivized withdrawals will be voluntary

and those who meet the requirements that the group chaired by

Marta Álvarez

agrees with the unions may join.

The reorganization plan provides for the transfer to the stores of professionals from the administrative services of the head office in Madrid, of the regional departments and of other sales support units.
