The automotive giant Stellantis, which notably includes Peugeot, Fiat and Chrysler, announces that it has made a record profit for the year 2022. Despite falling sales, the group posted a profit of 16.8 billion euros, mainly thanks to the strategy adopted by the boss, Carlos Tavares.

Shortage of semiconductors, extended delivery times, sluggish sales... Morale was not good for the automotive industry in 2022. However, a giant is doing well: Stellantis.

The alliance between PSA and Fiat Chrysler, which has only existed for 2 years, announces a record profit of nearly 16.8 billion euros.

However, never before had so few new cars been sold in Europe.

But Carlos Tavares, at the head of the company, began several months ago the move upmarket of the group, while adapting to new market needs.

Electric, hybrid, connected... Buying new is more and more expensive at Stellantis.

Bad news for the customer, but which does the business of the company and allows it to increase its turnover by 18% in Europe despite an 8% drop in sales last year.

Employees rewarded

Because the obsession of Carlos Tavares, the boss of the group with 14 brands, is to maintain its margins, while remaining competitive with the competition.

And even if the boss of the group is not a fervent supporter of the transition to 100% electric, it is a sector where the giant's sales have climbed by 41%, to come close to Tesla on the European market.

Very good financial results which will of course benefit shareholders but also employees: two billion euros will be redistributed.

In France, this concerns 43,000 people who will receive a minimum of 4,300 euros in premiums in April.

And if Stellantis was able to achieve such figures, it is also thanks to the success of several SUV and pick-up launches on the American and European market.

Segments that are very popular with consumers and very lucrative for manufacturers.
