The event hall of the Epic Sana hotel, in Luanda, has hosted a
business meeting
between Spain and Angola where the business opportunity that Spanish companies see in the Sub-Saharan African country has been highlighted, as well as the interest of Angolans for these investments.
Namely: more than 60 Spanish companies were invited and
17 Angolan ministers were accredited to the meeting.
All this, thanks in part to the presence of the King and Queen, on a state trip to Angola.
The last day of Felipe VI in Luanda began with the business meeting.
In his words, the King stated that this business summit is
"a magnificent opportunity"
to "identify some of the most important sectors of collaboration" between the two countries.
With the support of Antonio Garamendi, president of the CEOE, and
José Luis Bonet
, president of the Chamber of Commerce, the King has recalled that
"Angola has always been important
for Spain."
Well, it was one of the first countries to recognize its independence and "since then
it has had our support
in all areas, especially in the economic and commercial areas," he said.
Felipe VI has expressed his desire that after the state trip "existing
bilateral collaboration"
be consolidated , as well as encouraging "Spanish companies to contribute their knowledge, capacity and technology for the benefit of all".
The King recognized and congratulated Angola for having "healthy accounts,
falling inflation
and a balanced balance of payments, as well as stable foreign reserves".
It should be remembered that Angola suffered a major
crisis
in 2014 after the drop in oil prices.
In addition, the country experienced several decades of corruption under the mandate of Dos Santos, however, with the management of Lourenço they have managed to
prosecute
to the two sons of the former president, a sign of his commitment against corruption.
"Angola can and must take advantage to
relaunch its growth
and strengthen its economic and social development", the King concluded.
In this objective, he has conveyed that "Spain can play an important role through business collaboration and financial support."
It should be remembered that in Angola's National Development Plan, President Lourenço identified sectors such as infrastructure, education or tourism as key, niches in which Spain can find opportunities to contribute its experience.
That is why the King has recalled that "bilateral trade and investment", as well as "
close public-private collaboration"
contribute to the generation of wealth and employment.
