Yamato Transport Co., Ltd., a major home delivery company, announced that it will raise the fare of its home delivery service by about 10% from April 3.

Sagawa Express has already announced a price increase, and against the backdrop of a serious labor shortage in the logistics industry, there is a growing movement to secure human resources and improve treatment.

According to the announcement, Yamato Transport will raise the courier fee by about 10% on average from April 3rd.

The range of price increases varies from 1% to 64%, depending on the size of the luggage.

For example, when delivering from Kanto to Kansai, the total length, width, and height of a package up to 60 cm will increase by 20 yen from the current 1,040 yen to 1,060 yen.

On the other hand, if the total of the three sides is up to 160 cm, the price for the same section will increase by 450 yen from the current 2,180 yen to 2,630 yen.

Regarding the reason for the price increase, the company said that in addition to soaring fuel costs, it would be appropriate to raise wages, etc., and in the future, we will review the fare every fiscal year.

In the logistics industry, the tightening of overtime regulations from April 2020 will lead to an even more serious shortage of truck drivers in 2024.

Last month, Sagawa Express also announced a price increase for home delivery services, and against the backdrop of a serious labor shortage, there is a growing movement to secure human resources and improve treatment.
