China News Agency, Qingdao, February 2 (Hu Yaojie and Cai Yaqun) The reporter learned from Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport on the 2nd that the airport opened an all-cargo flight from Qingdao to New York for the first time on that day.

This is the first all-cargo flight route in Shandong Province to New York, the United States. It is also another all-cargo flight route to the United States after the airport opened the Qingdao-Los Angeles all-cargo flight route in 2022.

According to reports, the route is operated by Coney Air’s B747 wide-body all-cargo aircraft. It is planned to fly every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday to carry cross-border e-commerce cargo, general cargo, mail, and fresh cargo.

After the flight lands at JFK Airport in New York, the goods can be transported to surrounding cities through multiple modes such as water transport, rail transport, land transport, air transport, and urban delivery.

The opening of the route has further improved the layout and structure of the Shandong-Qingdao cargo route network, enhanced the capacity of the intercontinental cargo route, and broadened the air transportation channel from the Jiaodong Peninsula to the American countries.

The operation of all-cargo aircraft is an important indicator to measure the competitiveness of airport cargo development. Statistics show that at present, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport is flying 3 Boeing 747 all-cargo aircraft and 7 large wide-body all-cargo aircraft. 15 international freight routes including Incheon, South Korea, Ostrava, Czech Republic, and Osaka, Japan, covering countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America, etc.

In 2022, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport will have 3,178 inbound and outbound cargo flights, with an international cargo and mail throughput of 101,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, a record high. The airport’s cargo and mail throughput ranks 13th in China.

Among the more than 100,000 tons of international cargo volume completed in 2022, the cargo volume of cargo flights (including passenger-to-cargo charter flights) will be 95,300 tons, accounting for 95.0%, an increase of 8 percentage points from the previous year.
