A statement said that DB World was awarded the development contract by the Dendayal Port Authority on a build-operate-transfer basis.

The new container terminal (Tuna Tecra) will be established and equipped with the latest advanced facilities on an area of ​​about 63 hectares, with it linked to an internal area behind the port through an integrated network of highways, railway lines, and designated shipping lanes.

The project includes the construction of a container terminal through a public-private partnership in India.

When completed, the terminal will include a berth of 1,100 metres, and will be able to handle ships transporting more than 18,000 TEUs, with a total handling capacity of 2.19 million TEUs.

According to the statement, the strategic investments of the "DB World" group in ports and terminals in India are in line with the Indian government's vision 2047 aimed at increasing the capacity for cargo handling by four times in the country's ports.

With the addition of the "Tuna Tecra" container terminal, the cargo handling capacity at DB World's facilities will reach approximately 8.19 million TEUs, in addition to seven intermodal intermodal terminals linked to the company's rail network, with refrigerated storage facilities and container shipping terminals. .

The group is also developing three state-of-the-art economic zones in Mumbai, Cochin and Chennai.
