The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam is facing several changes of guard - and the outgoing President of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) Lothar Wieler is the first prominent name on the future list of employees of the IT cadre factory.

Because the veterinarian, who will be 62 at the beginning of February, will be spokesman for the Digital Health Cluster, a department of the HPI that deals with medicine and IT - a field of work that the founder and sponsor of the institute, SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner, has been doing since years.
