The basic fare for taxis in Seoul has risen by 1,000 won from today (the 1st).

In a few months, bus and subway fares are also expected to rise, but these transportation costs cannot be reduced, so the lives of ordinary people are becoming more and more difficult.

Reporter Jang Seon-yi covered this story.

When taking a taxi, the basic fare is 4,800 won.

I traveled about 4.8km from SBS in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul to the National Assembly building in Yeongdeungpo-gu.

After traveling for 15 minutes on the same route at the same time as yesterday before the fare went up, an additional 1,000 won came out.

As the basic rate has been increased and the rates per distance and per hour have been adjusted, the increase increases as the travel distance and time increase, and from 10:00 p.m.

[Taxi users: 7,900 won?

I think it came out about 2,000 won more than usual.

If I go out with my father, I have to take a taxi.

Because prices have risen...

You have to feel it, of course.]

The reactions of the knights were mixed.

[Taxi Driver: It's fortunate that even this has gone up, and now the gas price has gone up...

For 2-3 months, the number of customers will decrease, and gradually it will be relieved.]

[Taxi driver: You need to pay 60,000 to 70,000 won.

(Today) 44,600 won.

It should be seen that it has decreased by 20-30%.]

Mr. Han Seok, an office worker who takes a taxi twice a week, calculated the monthly transportation cost by adding the increase in Seoul subway and city bus fares in April at the earliest.

Han's monthly transportation cost is currently 100,800 won on weekdays, but it is expected to increase by 24% to 125,100 won when taxi fares and bus fares are added.

[Han Seok/Office worker: It is said that subway and bus fares will increase in April, but transportation expenses are expenses that cannot be reduced.

I have a lot of worries in the future.]

In line with the taxi fare increase, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to strengthen sanctions, such as suspending telecommunications support for unfriendly drivers, and provide commendations and certification stickers to unfriendly drivers.
