The case would be laughable if it weren't actually causing the country such great concern.

Europe is delivering tanks to Ukraine to defend its free lifestyle.

The procurement of replacements is impaired because hardly anyone wants to give the manufacturer credit - and there are still politicians in the EU who think that's a good thing.

The EU is still discussing whether armaments companies should be considered “socially sustainable” or whether politicians prefer to discriminate against their financing.

Of course, one can be outraged at the double standards in politics: on the one hand, people are happy to order the products, but on the other hand, they still turn up their noses at the financing of the companies.

But this justified outrage can only be the first step towards a better realization: of how messed up the whole idea is from the ground up.

Values change faster than politics can keep up

For years, the EU has been arguing about what constitutes good investment and what constitutes bad investment.

Can nuclear power be considered green energy?

Is one construction company better than the other – and why?

And while everyone is still arguing about the details, the world moves on, and one of the key classifications fundamentally turns, and faster than the actors involved realize it.

It won't be the only case.

The EU will hardly have finished with its so-called "taxonomy" before the next definitions will be outdated.

Because values change faster than politics can keep up.

Good this way!

In an open, pluralistic society, the right way is as follows: the state defines what is permitted and what is forbidden.

He leaves all other moral issues to society.

Investors can decide for themselves who they want to give their money to and who not.

In this way, very different values can find their expression, and when they change, everyone can react quickly.

It is, of all things, the defense of Western values that is making transparent how these values are best lived.
