Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched 17 new main electricity transmission stations during the year 2022, including 15 stations of "132 kilovolt voltage" with a conversion capacity of 2280 MVA, and two transmission stations of "400 kilovolt" with a transfer capacity of 4000 MVA in the "Al Qusais Industrial Fifth" areas. and "Jebel Ali First", in addition to five kilometers of overhead transmission lines "400 kilovolt voltage" and 247 kilometers of underground cables "132 kilovolt voltage" to connect the stations to the main transmission network.

DEWA reported that the new main transmission stations "132 kV" supply the areas: Al Barsha South, Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, Al Merkadh, Business Bay, Umm Hurair, Wadi Al Safa, Oud Al Muteena, Al Raqqa, Al Wasl, Me'aisem, Umm Al Ramool, Al Aweer, and Ghadeer Barashi, while the total cost of these stations and related projects amounted to about 3.2 billion dirhams.

He added, “The total value of the authority’s investments in electricity transmission projects between 2021 and 2024 amounts to 10 billion dirhams;

Of which two billion dirhams are for the main transport projects (400 kilovolt voltage), and eight billion dirhams are for the main transport projects (132 kilovolt voltage).

Al Tayer stated that the total value of the Authority's investments in existing and completed electricity transmission projects during 2022 amounted to 8.1 billion dirhams, of which 800 million dirhams are for the main transmission projects (400 kilovolt voltage), and 7.3 billion dirhams for the main transmission projects (132 kilovolt voltage).

33 million man hours

Executive Vice President of the Energy Transmission Sector at the Authority, Eng. Hussain Lootah, said that the completion of the 17 stations required more than 33 million man-hours, using the latest internationally approved technologies, while ensuring the highest standards of security and safety.

He added, "At the end of the year 2022, the total transmission stations (132 kilovolt voltage) in Dubai reached 334 stations, in addition to 29 stations under construction."
