The tourism sector is poised to receive record numbers of visitors in February

The tourism sector in the UAE is preparing to receive record numbers of visitors from abroad, taking advantage of the group of events and events taking place in the country next February, such as the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX 2023), the Global Summit for Women and the 28th session of the Gulfood 2023 exhibition.

During the current week, a group of activities and events emerged that reflected the positive and rising performance recorded by the tourism sector in the country during the winter season.

Data from the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi revealed that Abu Dhabi hotels received 4.1 million guests during the past year 2022, a growth of 24% compared to 2021, while hotel revenues amounted to 5.4 billion dirhams.

The data showed that Abu Dhabi hotels recorded occupancy rates of 70% during the past year, as UAE nationals accounted for the largest share of the capital’s hotel guests during the past year with a share of 29%, and in terms of non-Emirati nationalities, Indian nationalities came in the lead with a share of 12%.

In a related context, Dubai opened its new icon, the "Atlantis The Royal" hotel, which cost about $1.5 billion to build, as a testament to the emirate's tourist attraction and prosperity.

The national carriers kept pace with the booming demand for travel to and from the UAE by launching new travel destinations to provide more options for passengers on board.

Flydubai opened three new destinations at once, within its global network, with the launch of flights to each of the stations, "Krabi" and "Pattaya" in Thailand, in addition to "St. Petersburg" in Russia.

The three new destinations raised the total number of the carrier's stations to 115 destinations in 53 countries around the world, and the company aims to operate daily flights to the three new destinations.

In turn, Emirates Airlines has taken an important step in returning to its capacity in Australia, by strengthening its services to Sydney and Melbourne, and the carrier will resume Christchurch service via Sydney, providing a new path for Australians to New Zealand south through the Tasmanian Sea.

From March 27, Melbourne service will increase from two to three daily flights from Emirates hub Dubai via Singapore, in addition to a third direct service to Sydney from May 1.

Ajman tourism

The Department of Tourism Development in Ajman, during its annual meeting with managers of all hotel establishments operating in the emirate, reviewed the encouraging results of the tourism sector's performance in 2022, and discussed its development plans for 2023.

The results showed an increase in the percentage of tourists coming from outside the country by 26% during 2022 compared to 2021, and the total revenues of the hotel sector grew by about 9% during the past year compared to 2021.

The emirate succeeded in attracting many new projects, the latest of which was the opening of the Zoya Health Resort in Al-Zawraa, the first 5-star health care resort, in addition to the reopening of the Ajman Museum in its new look, and the opening of the Masfout Museum, as well as many other new tourism and hotel projects.

The Tourist Police Department at the Directorate of Criminal Inquiries and Investigations of the Criminal Security Sector of Abu Dhabi Police implemented awareness initiatives within the world's most beautiful winter campaign aimed at introducing the role of the tourist police and welcoming tourists coming to enjoy the desert camps in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The tourist police welcomed the tourists and visitors, and they were introduced to their role, in addition to showing a documentary film on the camps’ electronic screens and loudspeakers about their achievements, along with distributing awareness brochures in several international languages ​​that included tips and instructions on the most important laws and regulations in force in the emirate.
