The European Space Agency ESA awards a major order to T-Systems.

The IT service subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom announced on Tuesday that it will be managing data from the Copernicus satellite program in its data centers in the future.

The deal has a volume of EUR 150 million and will run for six years with an option to extend for a further four years.

As part of Copernicus, ESA collects numerous satellite data of the earth's surface.

These are processed, evaluated and can be used, among other things, for optimal watering and fertilization of agricultural land.

According to T-Systems, it has been operating parts of the Copernicus infrastructure since 2013.

As part of the new contract, the company is also supplying tools for analyzing data volumes.
