This was announced in an interview with The Financial Times by Hans Weilbrif, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Climate Policy of the Netherlands.

According to Weilbrief, the Dutch authorities would like to stop gas production at this field as early as 2023, but due to the energy crisis in European countries, these plans may be pushed back until October 2024.

The Minister added that the Netherlands will not face a gas shortage due to this decision, as it will supply fuel from the United States, Qatar and Norway.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany managed to overcome its dependence on Russian energy resources.
