The consumer price index for December and last month, which looks at the price movements of goods and services consumed at home, rose 4.0% from the same month of the previous year, excluding fresh food, which fluctuates greatly depending on the weather.



The 4.0% rate of increase is the first level in 41 years since December 1981.



Prices continue to rise, mainly due to rising prices of food, electricity, and gas.
