His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, honored the 10 winners of the 2023 session of the "Zayed Sustainability Prize", with the participation of a number of leaders of friendly countries, guests of the state, during the annual awards ceremony that was held yesterday, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center "ADNEC". », coinciding with the launch of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the current year, which marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the award, will also be an exceptional year for the UAE, as it prepares to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), where it represents This year's awards are an important stop to highlight the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the field of climate action and providing opportunities for sustainable economic and social development in all countries, especially in developing countries.

His Highness also stressed the need to develop the skills of distinguished youth to become leaders of sustainability in the future, praising the category of international secondary schools for the award, which enables young people to play an effective role in supporting social and economic development within their communities.

The award provides the winners with a grant of $600,000 in five categories, including health, food, water and energy, while six winners representing six geographical regions within the global secondary schools category will receive a grant of $100,000 each.

In the health category, the Expeditionary Society for Health from Brazil won the award for its Mobile Hospital Complex project, which provides specialized medical and surgical care to geographically isolated indigenous communities within the Amazon region.

Insect, a French company, won the food category award for its efforts in producing proteins and natural fertilizers for insects.

In the energy category, NeuroTech from Jordan won the award thanks to its development of algorithms based on artificial intelligence and a system based on blockchain technology, with the aim of providing a reliable source of energy within refugee camps.

LEADERS, the Local Environmental Development and Agricultural Research Society, a non-profit organization from Bangladesh, won the award in the water category for its integrated water resource management model.

The 2023 Global High Schools category awards were won by Pius Terra School from Colombia for the Americas region, Romain Roland Gymnasium from Germany for Europe and Central Asia, and the School for Gifted Students from Iraq for the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to UWC.
