The new “fuel allowance” has been available since Monday.

This aid of 100 euros put in place by the government aims to preserve the purchasing power of motorists faced with soaring fuel costs.

Already 825,000 people have requested it in the space of a day, as the Ministry of the Economy has entrusted to our colleagues from BFM Business.

According to the government website, this aid targets the 10 million poorest French workers who use their vehicle to go to work.

Note that this boost is for people and not for the household.

Therefore, a couple can quite receive 200 euros as part of this allowance.

Targeted assistance

This state aid replaces the “fuel discount” which, from April 1 to December 31, 2022, allowed French motorists to benefit from a discount of 15 cents per liter of fuel.

"The general rebate helps including French people who don't need their car to go to work, French people who have income that allows them to absorb inflation", the Minister for Action and Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal.

This new state aid is therefore more targeted to help the most modest incomes, hit hard by inflation.

To benefit from this allowance, all you have to do is go to the impots.gouv.fr website, enter your tax number and the license plate of the vehicle used, then complete a “sworn statement”.

The 100 euros of state aid should be transferred from January 27.

People who do not have Internet can go to the tax department, to the nearest France Services point or contact 08 06 00 02 29 between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
