Invited on the set of “Apolline Matin” this Thursday on RMC, the leader of Lidl France castigated the bill aimed at giving more weight to food manufacturers in price negotiations with large retailers.

Michel Biero called the latter a “disaster for the French”.

Validated Wednesday in committee at the National Assembly, this proposal carried by the deputy Frédéric Descrozaille (Renaissance) would abandon consumers in favor of multinationals, according to the executive director of purchasing, marketing and communication of Lidl France.

"The End of Negotiations"

The leader notably pointed the finger at article 3 of the bill, which according to him imposes "the end of the negotiations": "Today, an industrialist who asks us for 30% in December, we have until the end of February to negotiate.

This law […] says that if we are asked for 30%, and on March 1 we have not reached an agreement, we will be required to pay the 30%”, he developed.

Therefore, this proposed law pushed according to him "by lobbyists and multinationals" could lead to a spike in prices on the shelves.

" This is not me saying it.

The boss of VSEs, SMEs and ETIs said that it was going to lead to increases of 30 to 50% on the labels on the shelves, ”hammered Michel Biero.

A “pro-inflation” law

The boss of Lidl France warned that in the event of a vote on this law, “the 10% of brands at Lidl” would “melt like snow in the sun.

" Michel Biero also fears that France, like Spain, will soon be in the grip of a new rise in inflation: "We currently have proposals for price increases from our suppliers who are two figures.

It goes for some up to 49% increase requested.

The leader was finally surprised by a government policy which, while striving to "seek solutions" to fight against inflation, in particular by means of food shields, is capable of "passing this law which is pro- inflation ".

He concluded the interview by asking for more transparency from the political leaders carrying this proposal, after having described them as "arsonist firefighters".
