China News Agency, Hefei, January 12 (Reporter Zhao Qiang) Nian Guangjiu, a famous private entrepreneur and founder of "Fool Guazi", died of illness in Wuhu, Anhui at 14:00 on January 11, 2023, at the age of 84.

The obituary of "Mr. Nian Guangjiu's Funeral Committee" shows: "Nian Guangjiu, born on January 17, 1940, is from Huaiyuan, Anhui. He was born in a poor family and engaged in the melon seed business all his life. On the market, created the famous brand 'Shaziguazi' which is deeply loved by consumers."

According to reports, in accordance with Nian Guangjiu's last wish, the funeral was kept simple, and only a simple mourning hall was set up at the Fool's Sunflower Seed Headquarters in Wuhu City for the memorial service of relatives and friends.

A reporter from China News Agency had previously interviewed Nian Guangjiu. When he was interviewed by reporters, what he said the most was "'Fool's Sunflower Seeds' will never fall!"

At the beginning of China's reform and opening up, the "fool melon seeds" as an individual economy caused heated discussions-establishing companies, registering the "fool" trademark, and "self-employed" hiring workers. These things seemed incompatible with the planned economy of that era.

Nian Guangjiu was mentioned by Deng Xiaoping many times when "Fool's Melon Seeds" was in trouble several times, and he became famous all over the country, and was called "China's No. 1 Vendor".

Nian Guangjiu's son, Nian Qiang, said in an interview with local media in Wuhu: "Father passed away very peacefully and is now dealing with funeral affairs. Thank you for your concern." (End)
