China News Agency, Beijing, January 12 (Reporter Pang Wuji) The reporter learned from the Ministry of Natural Resources of China on the 12th that the 2023 National Natural Resources Work Conference was held in the form of video a few days ago.

When deploying the work in 2023, the meeting pointed out that a new round of domestic prospecting for strategic minerals will be fully launched.

From 2011 to 2020, China used 10 years to implement the strategic action of prospecting breakthroughs.

During this period, a total of 17 large oil fields with a level of 100 million tons and 21 large gas fields with a level of 100 billion cubic meters have been discovered, and 32 new non-oil and gas mineral resource bases have been formed. The reserves of major mineral resources have achieved 100% in the case of continuous increase in mining consumption. general growth.

According to the analysis, China launched a new round of domestic prospecting for strategic minerals in order to enhance its domestic energy resource security capabilities.

Taking oil and natural gas as an example, their dependence on foreign countries is relatively high.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, China will import 513 million tons of oil in 2021, with a foreign dependence of 72%; natural gas imports of 120 million tons, with a foreign dependence of about 44%.

The meeting emphasized that in 2023, a new round of domestic prospecting for strategic minerals should be fully launched around strengthening the domestic exploration and development of important energy and mineral resources and increasing reserves and production.

Highlight scarce and large strategic minerals, focus on important oil and gas-bearing basins and key metallogenic belts, and carry out exploration and prospecting according to the degree of geological work classification; promote relevant scientific and technological projects to provide support for breakthroughs in ore prospecting; cooperate with coal, potassium Salt and iron ore guarantee work.

This meeting also made arrangements for the work on natural resources in the coming period.

Among them, the top priority is to strictly abide by the bottom line of resource security, consolidate the foundation of food, energy and resource security, strengthen the security system of marine, surveying and mapping geographic information data, and improve the ability of safe development.

The meeting pointed out that the focus is to firmly hold the red line of 1.8 billion mu of cultivated land, improve the domestic supply and reserve guarantee capacity of mineral resources, promote the construction of national marine security guarantee capacity, strengthen the safety supervision of surveying and mapping geographic information, and strengthen the prevention and control of geological and marine disasters.
