The Ministry of Science and ICT issued a warning at 7:00 am today (9th), saying that the US Earth Observation Satellite 'ERBS' may crash near the Korean Peninsula.

The Korea Astronomical Research Institute analyzed the orbit as of 4:00 am today, and the ERBS is likely to crash between 12:20 pm and 1:20 pm today, and the Korean Peninsula is included in the fall prediction range.

The Ministry of Science and ICT said, "The crashed satellite is expected to be dismantled and burned by frictional heat when it enters the atmosphere, and most of it is expected to be lost."

The Ministry of Science and ICT will guide you through disaster safety text messages before the estimated time for passing through the Korean Peninsula.

During the time when a fall is predicted, be careful when doing outdoor activities, keep an eye on news such as broadcast media, and if you find an object that is suspected to be falling debris, do not directly contact it and report it to the fire department immediately.

ERBS is a 2,450 kg satellite that was launched on October 5, 1984 from the Challenger space shuttle and has been tasked with observing and analyzing the distribution of Earth's heat radiation.
